Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2026
This policy describes how Sababi Labs (“we”, “us”) handles information for BarPocket (the macOS app) and barpocket.sababilabs.com (this website). BarPocket does not require an account. Your pockets, environments, and menu bar layout stay on your Mac.
1. What stays on your Mac
BarPocket stores preferences and pocket configuration locally on your computer. We do not receive:
- The names or contents of your pockets
- Which menu bar apps you group or hide
- Personal files, keystrokes, screen content, or passwords
BarPocket needs Accessibility permission so it can discover menu bar icons and activate them from a pocket. That permission is used only for those features on your Mac. Accessibility data is not uploaded to us. Hiding an icon in the menu bar is organization on your display; it does not encrypt files or hide activity from other software.
2. Website
When you visit this site we may use:
- Google Analytics — aggregated traffic (pages, approximate location, device/browser type)
- Microsoft Clarity — session analytics to understand how the site is used
These tools may set cookies or similar identifiers. You can block them with browser settings or privacy extensions. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Downloads
When you download BarPocket (for example a .dmg), our servers may log a limited request record to understand
interest in the product:
- A one-way hash derived from your IP address (not the raw IP)
- Country (from the CDN), Accept-Language, and User-Agent
- App version and download path
- Time of the download
This happens automatically for the download request. It is not tied to a name or email address.
4. App updates (Sparkle)
BarPocket checks for updates over HTTPS. Each check may record a similar anonymous check-in: hashed identifier, app version, country, Accept-Language, and time.
In Settings you can enable “Share anonymous device info” (off by default). If you turn that on, update checks may also include:
- macOS version, chip model, and memory size
- How many displays you have, whether the main display has a notch, and the menu bar’s available width
- Whether the menu bar is right-to-left
- Counts only: pockets, environments, discovered menu bar icons, icons assigned to pockets, and icons that may be hidden by the notch
- Settings flags: open-on-hover, launch at login, Accessibility granted
- The first BarPocket version installed on that Mac
You can turn it off at any time. We do not receive pocket names, which apps you grouped, personal files, or Accessibility contents.
5. Support, tips, and third parties
If you email us, we receive whatever you include (address, message, screenshots). We use that only to reply and to improve the product.
Optional tips go through Gumroad (or another payment page we link to). Their privacy practices apply to payments. We may receive limited purchase notifications from that provider.
6. Why we keep this data
We use the information above to:
- Operate and improve the website and app
- Understand downloads and update adoption
- Debug distribution and compatibility issues
- Respond if you email us for support
7. Retention and security
Analytics records are kept only as long as useful for those purposes, then deleted or aggregated. We use standard hosting and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Children
BarPocket is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal information.
9. Your choices
- Use the site without creating an account
- Block analytics cookies in your browser
- Leave “Share anonymous device info” off (it is off by default)
- Email us to ask questions about this policy
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use of the site or app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
